So who has experience with Pettibone grapple type loaders? Need some basic info and to know if they are ok for finding parts. Friend looking at one for his junkyard, whoops, I mean "metal salvage center".

I don't know who owns what behind the scenes in the corporate world. But, I've had no trouble getting parts from tbe company that calls itself Pettibone, just as it has been since the 1800s. Their main website is at: Link I own a couple of Pettibones that use Detroit Diesel engines. I've also worked on many types of older Pettibones including the Barko grapple log-loader that is part of Pettibone, Pettibone-Muliken Multi-Hoe backhoe/loaders, Pettibone log skidders, and Pettibone mill-yard 4WD loaders. At least with the older stuff, just about all the parts are generic and you can buy them anywhere. Pettibone made the frames and steelwork and bought the rest of the parts. I just recently asked the company for a manual for my 1967 backhoe and they had it and sent it to me.

pettibone was bought out by jlg who makes cat and lull etc. Local pettibone dealer still finds parts and still carries the pettibone name but not made by them anymore but so far no problems. you will probably find a cummins motor in it (any cummins rep can find parts), any reputable shop should be able to rebuild cylinders and hoeses. Shouldnt have a problem
