Hello Everybody, Maybe someone can help me with this i have a 1978 bobcat 610 with a jackshaft (the shaft which is driven by the belt) oil leak on the left side of the machine. The oil is coming out of the side hole in the chain case where the jackshaft goes into the case. I know that there has to be a bad seal on the inside. If anyone has some knowledge on this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Harold

Harold check and be sure that it not leaking at the lines above the shaft.I have a 610 and I thought sure the shaft was leaking, it turned out to be a line.

there is no seal on the shaft. they use a sealed bearing that is rather expensive. either the bearing is leaking or the plate that holds it to the side of the case has come loose causing the leak. more than likely the bearing though. quite a bit of work to repair it on those old beasts with all the chains and clutches in there.
