I have a D6 9u Cat. I have taken the track off and the track adjuster will not go back in for i can pin the track back up. It will have to go back about 3 inch. I took the grease zurt out and tryed to pull it back will not move, It looks like there are treads on the adjuster? So how do i move the adjuster back? thanks for all your help

They had mechanical track adjusters but many where converted to the optional Hyd/ grease type adjusters. A pic would help us tell what type you have.

Mark, that looks like a mechanical screw type adjuster to me. The grease fitting is to lube the threads. Try loosening the bolts and nuts at the idler yoke and turning the extention rod to move the idler back. You need it a lot slacker than it was to couple the track back up.
