TRACK ADJUSTER REMOVAL Cat D6

I need to know how to remove the track adjuster on my Cat D6 I tryed to adjust it , but it is frozen and treads are not any good,so I am going to get new parts. It is a manual adjuster I took some pic for you can see it. In pic #3 track adjuster I would like to know what to expect. thank for all your help

You have one nasty job there Mark. See you have been putting some heat to it already. Might heat the rod up red hot at each end and let it cool for a day. That might shrink it enough to free it up to move. It would be worth putting some more effort into getting it to move. I say this since your tractor was once a pipelayer and has a rigid hard bar not a spring across the front. Those old bolts look intimidating. The recoil spring look to be held there secutly but always be careful around them. Later Bob

Bob and Hector thanks for your advice, I will try to heat up the rod again and let it cool down , Then I will try again to turn the rod. I removed the 4 bolt that connect the yolk to the rod . Again thank alot BoB and Hector
