We had a 51' or 52' D6 with the pony motor and 8' or 9' blade, I was always told that machine scaled at 22,000 lbs. Never saw proof though.

TimBinWV, you never said if the tractor was a 8U or 9U, so here is both.

D6 8U 1947 thru 1954 Approximate shipping weight is 16,695 lb. D6 9U 1947 thru 1950 Approximate shipping weight is 17,330 lb.

“Caterpillar Performance handbook edition 3” Former Models.

This would be for a bare tractor, add a little more if not clean, dirt, mud, etc.

Good luck.

As a further note to Kellys post when he says a bare tractor, that means the weight listed doesn't include the weight of the blade or it's controls if so equipped. Depending on the type of blade add a couple thousand pounds more for it.

Thanks all!I've a opprotunity to trade a 1085 MF with loader for the 49d6. It's got a cable blade(i think),but has an issue of the track jumping off. Dunno if I wanna taclke it or not.It does have an electric start pony motor on it.Not the original. I'll be checking it out better this weekend. Guy wants 4000 for it,sound fair? Thanks, Tim
