I had a TD8-E and had the same problem for some time. After an overhaul and injectors, timing check, everything possible. It was the pump. I bought a rebuilt pump, problem solved! DWF

There should be a start position on the throttle lever. It advances the pump and gives it full fuel to start. If you have a manual, check the position for the lever.I think it is between the idle and stop position.

First thing would be to have the compression checked then if that checks out good then i would move to the pump and injectors as the injectors may be cracking to low or the cranking presssure of the pump is off because the head is wore out. Nothing that the dollar bill can't fix.
