I'm new at all of this but I would like some advice from you guys and gals. I'm looking to buy a case 350 dozer the owner thinks that it is in the 1970ish vintage. it is a 4 cyl deisel and it has a 6 way blade. the undercarrage is 90+% as he had just put new chains pads and rollers along with sprockets as well on this machine. I was wondering what something like this would be worth and it does NOT have a cage on it and I would like to find on if I could to put on it. any ideas where I might find a cage to go on this I tried the salvge dealers in my area and they all said they had nothing to fit that machine. If I need any other info to help tell more about this please let me know and I will get it thanks in advance for all you help!!!!!

Look at the torque tube. It is the tube that holds the tracks on the tractor, inspect the plates and tube where it bolts to the under carriage on each side, you may need to get under the machine to inspect. That was the weakest spot on mine. Other than that it was a great little dozer that was easy to work on. Most of the old dozers around here have log skidder rops fitted on if they don'thave the factory rops. You may try DEPCO in indiana thay have lots of case stuff.

We have a 450 loader that has a ROPS from a CAT skidder. If you are a good welder or know one you can mount other cages with success. Of course they wont be 'legal' ROPS if there is ever a lawsuit. For me, mine has saved my bacon. I could not find a Case ROPS and after looking for 2 years we came up with a solution of our own.

Good, simple, reliabe machine. with relatively inexpensive parts replacement. I do wonder why the owner is selling it after all that expense in new undercarriage. Price wise, I would expect to pay arount 8K, but that one probably more as he is hoping to recover some of the undercarriage expense. Does it start up easily when cold? Six-way blade is very worthwhile for me. I wouldn't past up a good dozer because it don't have the cage. Email me for more info if you want. I own "Casey" S/N 3055441, a 1974 and love it.
