Looking for a winch for a john deere 450D. Wondering if a john deere winch is the only brand that will fit. If not what other brands would fit and what should I look for to make sure it would fit a 450D?

i have found a winch from carco that fits the jd 450 size but not a john deere specifically. I am wondering how the winch mounts to the pto. would a winch off say a Cat or international fit a deere? A carco would be great if it fit as it is a Paccar company. I work for paccar Kenworth div. building semi trucks.

I have purchased a Carco 28 winch that I plan to install on a JD450C dozer. I have been told that it will mount directly on the 450C. I have also been told that the winch is too big for a 450C. Can anyone shed light on either one of these issues?

the whole thing is mounting the winch to the dozer. Any winch will work (since they run off of hydraulic hoses from the tractor)so as long as the spline shafts & coupler line up & match up, you can make an adapter. For instance, I have seen a big farm tractor with a JD 450 winch on the 3 pt. hitch.
