I recall seeing something similar to what you describe on a Cat HT-4 ( D-4 tractor with fixed track frames, non oscillating ) blade and loader combination, and the blade was seperate from the loader. This was probably one of the myriad of aftermarket attachments available back then, appears that there a lot of obscure fabricators of such things back then. It is hard to say whether anything like it was offered for a D6 9U series, might be possible because that tractor was popular and many were built, also have to remember the D6 9U model tractor was built as a non loader tractor with oscillating track frames, not fixed, for uneven ground, for agricultural work and or construction type work. Fixed track frames provides more stability for a loader type application, I believe the D-4 7U series (wide gauge) was adapted for the HT-4 traxcavator, don't think it was the narrow 6U series, might be wrong. Somewhere before these era machines, the old cumbersome and bulky trackson cable operated loader was offered up to a D7 size tractor, probably in the 40's, HT's were 50's. It's not to say something like you described was offered but, I can't recall ever seeing any literature or tractors fit with one, other than the D4 and or HT-4 with that combination, blade was below and the loader raised up to allow use of the blade, don't these were abundant either, have only seen 1 or 2. I also could be wrong.
