I have an 86 3cx. the king boom swings to the left by itself and when swinging the boom to dump a load the hoe bucket leaks down, but if i don't move the arm left or right the bucket stays closed. The boom also comes down by itself real fast. there is a really bad leak coming from the extendahoe. Would that cause the rest of the system to leak down? Can a valve block be rebuilt easily?

thanks in advance

There seems to be a lot of hydraulic problems all at once on your machine, has the valve block been messed with?,you should repair the leak on the extendahoe so it won"t be slopping about, check the spool valve for the swing that it returns to the neutral position when you let the lever go,the ball on top of the valve that connects to the lever can be worn and the levers slop about but the spool itself should take a certain amount of pressure to move it either way as there is a spring in the bottom cap that has to be over come for the spool to move,if the spring is broke it would not return to neutral and allow the boom to move,if that valve is ok you will need to check the auxiliary relief valve (port valve),it may be stuck or an o"ring gone,if your machine has the swing cylinders at the bottom of the kingpost and if there is no oil leaking out from the post that would be saying the the cylinder seals are ok,you need the manual to see the layout, the extendahoe hoe has it own valve operated by a pedal as I remember,it should not affect the rest of the hyds,if there is no oil leaking from around the spools of the valve block leave it alone,as said in the other post all you can do is replace the o"rings on the spools that catch the leak-by,if the cylinders are dropping the most likely thing that is wrong is the internal seals on the cyl pistons are worn, they don"t have to be leaking oil outside, the hydraulics on that machine are very relieable as there is no servo or electrics to go wrong, get yourself a manual so you can see the layout, any mechanic that has been working on any other make should have no trouble sorting a JCB,if you are anywhere near London UK I will come and have a look at it for you.Good luck
AJ

thanks AJ.For some reason your other post was removed or doesn't work. I'll get a manual before asking anymore questions. my machine is a centermount. Yes there is a pedal for the extradig but whenever i go to dig hyrdraulic oil pours out(doesn't spray) from inside the boom.

thanks again
