We have a 400 MF crawler loader also and we had to change the engine. The original one was rebuilt by some moron before we got it and a rod went through the side. Anyway the water-
pump is not the only problem the oil-filter is on the wrong side and will require a spacer and be the other side up. We had a spacer made out of a 1" thick piece of aluminum. For the water pump we made a mounting plate that the old water pump would bolt up to and line up in the same place. then the belts would not line up but that was taken care of by using a different harmonic balancer and pulleys from a MF tractor with the same engine (2750 I think but its been a long time so not sure) . A modification to the alternator bracket is needed as well and you have to design and make a bracket for the throttle linkage. With these few things its pretty much a drop in. Ho ya putting in oil is a little tuff also as the fill is on top and not on the side.
We no longer use ours as the tracks are bad it still runs good just cant get sprockets. We also have a shop service manual.

I've got one MF 400 dozer parts machine with good tracks, rollers and sprockets etc. This machine was fitted with a newer perkins engine that wouldn't cross with tractor specs. This engine is bad but alot of other good parts are still there.

Email me if you may need these parts.

Thanks Bill
