On my 580c in cold weather the back wheels seemed locked. Now I noticed the left brake housing has a crack, looks about where the shaft
would be inside. Could this all be caused by the brake activator balls/ramps or do I have major problems lurking. I am going to look for a used left brake housing and rebuild the brake assy.
thanks Phil

I replaced my brake balls & ramps on my 580 CK last winter becuase the wheels were locked up. I noticed that this winter in the cold (in Maine) the brakes can still lock. This years locking has been intermittent and infrequent and not anywhere as severe as last year. We've also had a lot of rain followed by cold weather, so I think the brakes are getting wet and then freezing? At least that's what I hope. Anyway, the machine brake very well and I feel much safer with the new brakes. Not a terribly huge job, but not fun in the cold weather. good luck.
