Looking into hauling a little 440 dozer. What is the appx. weight and width (outside of track to outside of track) of one of these machines? This one has a 4 way blade. Have not looked at it yet, but everything is described as good except for one steering clutch. How tough is it to replace?
Thanks,
MH

the dozer should weigh around 6300 plus the blade. I would guess 7500-8000 total for what you describe. The crawler is about 5 feet wide at the track width, and I suspect the blade is less than 8 feet wide. I may be a little high on the weight, but that is close as my book is not handy. The final drive needs to come off to replace the clutches but it is a lot easier on the dozer than the loader. I have a guy that can do it at his farm in about 3 hours as he has done a few of them and has all the stuff handy. The manuel describes a bent rod that facilitates removel of the final because it has to turn slightly to come off. The service manuel is really a good investment on these machines. Lavoy can help with parts, etc
