You probably don't have a screwdriver that will allow you to adjust the orifice easily. Make one by bending a 1/8" steel rod 1" x 2", then flatten the end of the 2" and wrap 1/2" masking tape around it about 1/2" back from the tip until it is the same diameter as the bore. This will center you and allow you to feel the orifice plug, which you can not see. I would still like to know if your reverse pack fully disengages. Mine doesn't and I plan to run it until it works or breaks, as it sat up about 8 years. I also plan to design and install a decellerator, which should help.

Do you notice the same whip when shifting from reverse to forward? Do you notice that the engine appears to have a load on it more in forward than reverse (like reverse is not releasing all the way)? Do you have a neutral when using the handle or do you need to put in the clutch? If the reverse clutch pack is not releasing all the way then it will hit harder in reverse than in forward. Cause could be crud in the 25psi release (and lubricating) circuit. Could also be that the rotary reversing valve is not centered and favors the reverse side, while the orifice is set for the forward response.

How about a few more details. I assume your machine has the optional hydraulic reverser? Does it finally work okay once it's in reverse or doesn't it go in at all? If it's just shifting too harshly, there's an ajustment screw to slow it down. Also, does the machine works okay forward and backwards if you don't use the reverser (i.e. using the transmission reverse instead).

ONCE THE REVERSER GEAR IS IN REVERSE IT GOES FINE AND FORWARD ITS FINE . ITS JUST WHEN YOU USE IT TO GO FROM FORWARD TO REVERSE IT SHIFT REAL HARD JERKS THE MACHINE.

There is a screw that is used to adjust the rate-of-shift from forward to reverse (or vice-versa). You turn it in (clockwise) to soften the shift, and turn it out to make it more firm. When adjusted properly, with the transmission in 2nd gear, engine at full throttle, you should be able to shift forward-reverse and back with a firm shift - but not neck-snapping - without touching the clutch pedal. Sometimes, when the reverser develops internal problems, the adjuster screw is turned out more than normal - in order to let more oil flow - as a temporary fix - just keep that in mind in case you adjust it properly and then encounter new problems. The adjuster is at the bottom of the hydraulic control valve assembly - left side of reverser case - hidden under a small pipe-plug. When you pull the plug out, it will expose a screw that takes a common flat screwdriver - more-or-less like a carburetor jet.

I think mine needs adjustment too. Is this a crawl in the dirt thing and do you have to remove a belly pan to get to it?

You can reach through the track to do it. The little pipe-plug you have to remove is usually a hex Allen type drive.
