JCB Sitemaster Question

This week my brother and I bought a 1988 JCB Sitemaster backhoe/loader (from a private owner) for doing some work around our farm. It was advertised as a Model 214. However, there's nothing on the machine that states it's a 214. It has "turbo" printed on both sides of the roof, with "4X4" on the front of the roof, and "sitemaster" printed on the lift arms of the front bucket. The only paperwork I got from the seller was the lubrication specs and grease diagrams. I need to get an operator manual (since I've never operated a backhoe) to get familiar with the do's and do nots, and any other manual available to help maintain it.

Can anyone offer some guidance as to how I can figure out what the model of this backhoe is? The serial number is STM T4 068 337350 7.

Any help regarding the model and any advice on the associated manuals you think I should have would be greatly appreciated.

Here's how to decode the SN:

STM = Sitemaster
T4 = Turbo with 4WD
068 = build date, June of 1988
337350 = build number (also simply called serial number)
7 = centermount backhoe ("centermounts" are for the US market mostly, in England most are sideshift (these machines are made in Britain by the way)

There are lots of people selling JCB manuals on ebay, I just bought a few myself (I just bought an 85 3C1550 a few weeks ago, similar to your machine). The Sitemaster is the same thing as a 1400B except it has the extendahoe and can dig deeper (18'3" vs 14'5"). The Sitemaster is 1000lbs heavier because of the hoe, but there are a few very minor variations other than that, otherwise it's the same. The 1550B is also nearly identical to the 1400B and sitemaster, except its standard hoe goes to 15'11". There's also the 1600B and the 1700B which have more powerful engines than the previously mentioned models, but again the basic tractor is the same unit.

If you have more questions, there's a UK guy here named AJK who's an absolute JCB expert. I'm real new to them and trying to learn as much as I can, but would be glad to help if I can, just ask - good luck.
