My manual says that the hyd. oil capacity is 21 gallons. Is this for the whole thing ? Or how much you get out and need to refill if you just drain the reservior and lines down at the filter check valve ?

I can only get 5 gallons at the most out of mine. The 21 gallons must be for everything in the cylinders and lines so I don't know why the operators manual says to be prepared for 21 gallons. I have been draining mine a couple times a year to try and get the water out of the system. I fear it will take me next to forever to get it cleaned up though.

Since you have a water problem and need to get more out have you tried having the loader and backhoe up all the way in the air then draining it unhooking the check valve at the filter and then trying to gravity lower them down and getting more out ? I did this on some other smaller loaders and seemed to get more out.

I will try this this spring. I have been recyling some of the oil by leaving it sit in the 5 gallon pails for a few months and letting the water settle to the bottom.

Last I changed one , drain pan had about a gallon or just slightly more in it. Check oil level with machine in transport mode. Backhoe up and locked , loader just about a foot off the ground , engine off..
