I'm trying to find a hyd pump drive shaft for my JD 350. The shaft I need has 7/8-13T splines on each end. This shaft was used in the crawler loaders. Any help is appreciated!

Not hard to find or buy in reply to Gary Mckenzie, 03-09-2006 07:01:44
It's not a difficult item to find. Most of those parts are still available from Deere, and Case and Ford - they use the same shafts. They also use the same type Cessna pumps or sometimes Webster Electric. The Deere 350s only used two sizes depending on it being a dozer or loader (13 or 23 GPM pumps). 3/4" or 7/8" . Some dozers came with the option larger pump and shaft if ordered with attachments. The splined shafts and couplers are generic items and can be bought many places that sell industrial supplies or hydraulic parts. I fixed my neighbor's 450B a few months ago - but since time was of the essence, we bought the parts locally at the Ford New-Holland dealer. Ford's prices are usually much lower than Deere for the same parts. The stuff we used (with the 7/8" X 13 splines) was for a 4000 Ford Industrial tractor with loader/hoe. My Case 580CK and my Deere 1010 crawler-loader all have the same drive parts. If you are ordering from Deere, you have be careful what you order - some numbers will come up as unavailable. Some of the 350s and 450s had a convoluted pump disconnect that complicated things. Just order the direct setup and eliminate the other crap that never worked anyway. In your case, the splined hub that bolts to the crankshaft pulley, the splined shaft and the coupler.

My dozer has the 13 gpm pump, with a 5/8 9T spline. The pump mount is a sae B, and a pump with the "B" bolt pattern and a 5/8 shaft is almost impossible to find unless you go to Deere. I have a new pump, coupling, and all parts to convert, just can't seem to find a shaft. I was hoping to find a used shaft, but had not thought of trying Ford-New Holland. I will give them a try. The shaft is avaible from Deere, I just can't bring myself to pay that much for it right now. Also, if you know of a hyd supply house that might have the shafting, let me know. I've done internet searches as well as checking the local area without any luck. Thanks!

Source for splined shafts in reply to Gary Mckenzie, 03-09-2006 12:03:38
I found the listing I mentioned earlier for splined shafts. It is at Baums. In an older catalog I've got here, it shows a 5/8" X 9 spline shaft 6" long - part # 03-32-00023. They also have 7/8" X 13 spline, 1" X 6 spline, 1" X 15 spline, 1 1/8" X 6 spline, etc. They also have the splined couplers. With the 5/8" X 9 spline, they have a regular duty and a high-tensile. The regular is 1 3/8" o.d. by 2" long, and the high-tensile is 1 1/4" o.d. by 1 1/4" long. For couplers, they also have 3/4" X 6, 3/4" X 11, 7/8" X 6, 7/8" X 13, 31/32" X 10 )for Farmall Cub), etc.

Maybe I mis-spoke about the 3/4" shafts - I'm just going by memory. I've got a pile of the shafts and associated parts laying in the corner of my shop; I'll look later. I have a 1010 dozer that has the same smaller shaft like used in the 350s. I replaced it last year, and with that - I bought all the parts new from a generic supplier except for the splined hub that bolts to the crankshaft. Ford-New Holland had it for $22 which is a bargain. If Deere had it, the price would probably be $75-$100. I have to think a bit on it, I'm drawing a blank at the moment. I just saw the catalog last week, since a friend of mine was looking for drive-parts for his Case. I think it was the company that used to be called Baum Hydraulics Company and sent out a huge catalog every year. They changed their name recently (I think).

Come to think of it, my Ford 3000 has the splined adapter on the crank pulley... I'll have to look and see if it'll fit, although I haven't had any trouble with my disconnect-yet.

I have a friend that can make the shaft for you, he is a little slow.
