My brother in law has a small komatsu dozer, model d21pl-5, s/n 45299. Does anyone know what year this thing is? I have seen lots of d21p but not d21pl. What does the L stand for? It has the wide pyramid pads on it now, is it possible to put regular grousers on it? The motor is in good shape and runs well but the undercarriage is worn. It will derail once in a while but only on the right side. Where can undercarriage parts be found? How expensive for a pin bushing set? This dozer doesnt get used a whole lot just a little farm dozer but putting the track back on is a pain in the rear. What it the most likely cause of throwing the track. Sorry for the long post, thanks for any help.

Not sure if the "L" refers to extra track length/width...or maybe blade configuration.I think it might even refer to track gague & plate width.
There are also PLL models, which have really wide gague & plates.
The D21PL-6 were made in late 80s,so your unit is earlier.
Hope this rather patchy info helps...
