B,

Unsure just what you're getting at, but I run a pair of Cat Traxcavators (track and rubber) and have a 50's Linkbelt crane in the pipeline. Plus a pair of Galions, the older originally horsedrawn.

Yes Tom , that is what I am talking about. I am thinking about getting into this hobby. I have been talking to my friend about starting a club of some type . Do you know of anybody else in Virginia doing this? The field day of the past only operates once a year and they have a bunch of stuff sitting around but nobody doing nothing with any of it. Each time I go their I only see that old steam shovel running and everything else just sitting. I want to get into this hobby but I want to go someplace where I can play with equipment several times a year.

Hi B, I've heard from several in Va from this list. Guy SE of Lynchburg was running old crawlers. Another near West Point, Buddy, has old cranes, crawlers, hoe. Better mechanic than I am. Have his email and phone number here somewhere.

Can't speak for anyone else, but my tractors earn their keep. Bought them all for my use, but occasionally move dirt for somebody else. I'm backed up about 4 mos in work. Not sure that's exactly a hobby...

Play with it several times/yr? LOL No problem here. Matter of fact, I could set you up with a few paying customers who don't want to wait for me. Mostly in Albemarle county.

I'm about to drag home a second 933 Traxcavator with a dead tranny and just yesterday agreed to buy a second deuce-and-a-half. That's my pickup (and tow vehicle) of choice. Need one? There are a lot of old machines around. What strikes your fancy? You referring to the Orange county steam get-together? I'd go if they'd change the month.

If you just wanna get greasy, come on out.
