Hi all, Just got a John Deere 450 crawler loader, 4 cyl diesel.Probably a '66. Some of the gauges need to be rewired, and for the life of me, I can't find the oil pressure sender on the engine. Not even a plugged hole it might go in. Any help surely appreciated. Thanks, Brian

Make sure you get the right sender! Just got gauges and senders for my 350 and they peg when the switch is on. The JD parts book shows them hooked to the 2.5 volt terminal of the alternator instead of 12 volt positive, and there is nothing like that in my old parts book or service manual!

Sender tap is on the rear motor plate, just below the right rear of the cylinder head, above the starter motor

Found the tap above the starter on rear. There's a small brass bleeder valve there. When machine is running oil streams out when opened. I have no idea why this would be here. I suppose i'll remove this valve and put the oil sender here. What do you think. Thanks, Brian

It sounds like someone plugged off the oil pressure line for some reason. The bleeder valve you found is probably where the sending unit needs to be. I can send you a picture of the way mine is set up if you want. Let me know.
