Guys, Need some help. I have 30 acres and have an acre pond that is not holding water. My thought is to buy a dozer to use around the place and to push dirt back into the pond and sculpt it so I can put a rubber liner in it. I want to make the pond half the size and half as deep as it is now. I don"t want to pay someone 4-5 grand a day to do the work. I have tractors, had 29, down to 15 now so I know alittle about machinery, just not crawlers. What would be a good dependable machine. And what cuould I expect to pay.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dave

What brand are you partial to? Lots of good models to choose from. I like IH, you could get a nice TD9 from the 50's with good undercarriage in good shape ready to work for about $4k-$5k. A newer model from the 60's with powershift transmission in similar shape might go for $2k-$3k more. I would think a machine of this size would be enough to readily do what you want, and quite a bit more.
