Howdy folks,
I'm new to this site and was directed to it from the compact tractor list. I've found a Case track Loader which I think is a model 420-B. It is a 4 CYL. Gas engine. The loader has not run in a couple of years and is in rough shape. A fella that has it is willing to give it to me provided that I haul it away.

Are parts readily available for this machines and how are the prices if parts can be found. Is this machine worth getting to run again if the engine is locked up or the transmittion is shot. I have not talked to the guy in detail about what may be a wrong with it so I don't know how what I may be getting into. The tracks appear to be worn out from the advise that a friend of mine has given me on it.

What does a machine like this sell for if running in decent condition? I love the small size of the machine and could find plenty of work to keep it busy around the back 40.

Any and all comments are appreciated.

Shawn

Shawn,

I think a 420B is a wheeled industrial tractor. This crawler/loader may be a model 450B. I think the numbering system for CASE after the 310/320 were 350, 450, 550, and so on.

The TLB'S were 310, 320, 420, 530 and then the series of 580's with some 680's and some construction kings 430ck, 480ck and so on.

I don't have a problem with gasoline engines. I think for the farm doing odd jobs, gasoline is fine. I have a John Deere 1020, and two CASE 310's that are gas. The only diesel is my Massey Ferguson industrial 50.

For engines infrequently used in the winter, I can get a gasoline engine started easier. Finding gasoline in the neighborhood is easier, also.

The price is right(free for removal) and at the very least you could sell parts from it, as far as I know parts are still available though some will be used, as far as value I think it depends on your area and the condition of the machine

Well I'm sure glad you shared your narrow opinion with us all, change your diet and gas won't be such a problem.

LOL excuuuuuse me the gentleman asked for any and all comments and i gave mine, I'm sure probably not what he wanted to hear was just my opinion from his description he's going to pour alot of money into this tractor in undercarriage alone that is if it will run and if it will it will work when it does run most likely clutches will be stuck and probably engine is stuck if been sitting that long. But your right on one thing the price is right and I would take it and try to sell parts off it before i took it to the scrap yard. Oh and btw your attempt at humor did not strike me as funny.
