I have a HD5 with a stuck clutch, the brake works, and the clutch handle has good spring tension ( we just adjusted it) Can I fill the housing with diesel fuel and let it soak, or will I have to remove the clutch to get it free

any help is appreciated

Filling the steering-clutch housings with diesel fuel used to be our standard treatment when they had oil in them, but not for stuck clutches. We'd fill with diesel, run for a while, then drain. Then fill with laquer thinner, run for awhile, and drain. It's not the best thing for sure, but it sometimes works and gets some extra use out of the machine without a teardown. If your HD5 had fiber clutch disks, they might soak up the diesel and stick like glue. If you have the optional bi-metallic disks, it's not a problem.
