I have a 550 hoe and it keeps popping out of gear - and the gear shifter is really sloppy - almost like the top of the transmission is loose. Is this common has, it happened to anyone, and what to do. Thanks, Bill

A loose shifter can be a loose top cover or in need of parts replacement on the shifter lever to cover area..Loose shifter can possibly cause gear to pop out..If it's been run a long time that way , I've seen the gear worn from not being put into gear all the way and wearing away of one narrow strip of gear instead of full engagement wearing the complete surface evenly..Hope it's the cover loose or in need of cover parts...
