I activate the swing pedal just enough to get some lateral motion and then if I activate another valve, the lateral swing accelerates. Can someone give me an idea where to start looking for the problem?

Does that happen in both directions,if its one direction only it maybe that the port valve is letting the oil bypass and when you pull another lever it blocks the oil escape route and the swing will speed up.if you have the problem in both directions it would be unlikely that two port valves could have a problem at once.
