Hi and Good Morning, Can somebody help me as I need some information. I have stumbled across an early 1950's crawler loader with a back hoe attachment American Tractor. It is a basket case as the oil pan has been off for years, and my concern is that the engine is proably froze. The chrome plated pistons are pitted and rusty as they have been left in the extended position and rained on for years! Can somebody tell me what the machine weight is? What would be a fair offer to the owner? I myself am thinking of scrap at about $85.00 a ton of being a good price. The owner says he has no idea of what it is worth and that I should make him an offer. I would have to hire a crane and a lowboy to move it and that of course becomes another expense to factor in.Any information whatever somebody can share with me would be greatly appreciated.I am relatively new to this area of "old iron", and a electrician that I know is big into 2 cyl JD's e-maied me with this web site, so here I am looking to web for help. Looking forward to hearing from someone soon, Regards, Tom Kramer P.S. It is Model "L656" with serial # 694. Thanks.

Tom,

The tractor weighs about 11,236 without the backhoe ,and with the counter weight off and the
hoe installed not more than another ton .
