Hi Folks, need a little help with a 1987 JCB Hydraulic problem, I'm getting tired of bathing in hyd fluid, may be time to ask for help.

s/n 322826 4x4 1400B with extradig extendahoe
Symptom; have about 50% hyd pressure (power) at times seems when warm hydraulics kick in and deliver 100% pressure and FULL power.

It is a two stage pump system I have checked the main releif valve on the loader valve body and everything seems ok with the relief valve.

1) when machine warms up occasionally I get full power
2) I feel that the hyd fluid is slipping by somewhere and would like to know how to isolate the circuit (SAFELY) to isolate possible leak through between front and rear end.
3) could really use a piping diagram for my serial number,322826 with extradig... MY MACHINE DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A SEPARATE UNLOADER VALVE, all my hydraulic diagrams have a separate unloader valve in the circuit.

Any ideas gents???? Thanks in advance... Mike

Mike, its at least 15/16 years since I came across that problem, one pipe adapter is longer than the others screwing into the block and has an o"ring on the end,I cannot remember which adapter it is but it is not either of the two that go to the cylinder, put the hoe out of the way and put all the equipment on the ground, stop the engine and wobble all the levers about to relieve any pressure, take off the pipes one at a time and take out the adapters, when you find the long one I hope the ring is blown.
Good luck

Has your machine got a seperate valve to work the extendahoe,if it has there is an o'ring on one of the extra long pipe adapters and if that ring fails the oil will bypass inside and the backhoe will be slow down and have no power,it is usually to the left of the valve block looking in from the back,it is the same block that would be used if your machine was piped for a breaker instead of the extendahoe.

Yes the extra dig valve is at the back on the right as you are sitting in the seat facing the hoe.

Where would you suggest looking on the valve for the o ring? Do you t hink the extra dig valve o ring by pass would also drag down power to the loader as well?

SOUNDS Like a great place to start, confusing part is it comes on full at times, but mostly doesn't have enough power to lift hoe, when it comes on full WOW it's inspiring, but mostly for 2 yrs its been a dog.

Any idea on the correct piping config when there is no separate unloader valve?
