Repair costs/Machine Suggestion

I have an old Massey Ferguson 470 Loader that I've totally rebuilt (minus paint). This loader is too small for me. I have found a Fiat-Allis Wheel loader for sale for $8000.00 cdn. that "needs head gasket". I was thinking I could sell my old Massey for $8000.00 (I've spent more than that on the rebuild) and that would pay for this 3 yard FiatAllis so than the cost on the new machine would actually be the repair bill. My question is what would be a ballpark cost to repair this machine? Is it a job I can do myself (I'm not a mechanic but can still turn wrenches)? Are these a relatively good brand/make of machine? Or should I walk away?
What do you guys think?

Replacing a head gasket isn't that big of a job so you ought to be able to do it yourself with no problems. The main thing you'll need is a gasket kit and although I can't give you a price it shouldn't be that high. Try the link below to The Parts Place for your parts. We've used them for years for F/A and A/C parts and they've always been great to deal with and had just about anything you need at a fair price.

I forgot to mention it's a 1988 Fiat Allis Serial No. 35C05434
What would the operating weight of this machine be? So if I do buy it I know how big of a trailer I will need. Any other information like motor type and size would be appreciated as well. Thanks!
