Hi, there I,ve been needing to talk to you. The trans and the differental oil is what I'm having problems with, two drains and one fill.

Desal doesn't run out of the back fill when I pour it in the fill .The fill thats below the air cleaner, thats also in front of the dipstick.

The dipstick, drains when I open the back drain for the ( diff. Bevel gear?) But I think I might have it, I thawt the clutch and the trans took 9gal So I probably just didn,t put enough in.

Aoughter problem, while I have your ear is the clutch. Its a wet clutch, oil was real milky when I drained it, and some parts came out , They Looked like automatic clutch steels? She runs fine haven't had any problems with her ,but I've only run her an hour... Help Mike Just getting stared

The trans and bevelgers case are all the same oil, drain at the center back between sprockets. Don't forget to check the steering booster oil, mounted above bevelgear. It has seperate oil.

Hi Bob when filling with oil the only place I see to put oil in the transmission is that vented plug in front of the dipstick below the air cleaner. ? but when I poured fuel down the fill it only came out the middel drain Question were do you fill the bevel and how do you drain the steering assist

You are filling the trans in the right place. The hole in the middle you mention, is it at the back? The steering clutches should be dry, any I have seen where on an 8 or 9 U.

The trans fill is back further I think, look under the seat or infront of it. The other one is the clutch.

Hi, Bob I think I,m putting it in the wright hole just not enough oil, I thought that the clutch and the trans took 9 gal. I talked to the guy I bought it from, OLD CAT SKINNER and he told me the trans took 10 gal. of gear oil That would explain the two drain holes , I guess that it fills up high enough to drain into that back sump. Under the seat in the fuel tank there is a slotted 7/8s or so plug like the one on the cable fill.. I,m going tomarrow to finish the job got me a 5gal jug of gear oil thanks for the inf Mike

If there is a drain, it must be at the back of the booster housing. It's been a long time, 30+ yrs since I touched a 9U. The booster has a pump inside driven by the trans shaft. I take it you drained some clutch plate lining out of the flywheel clutch.

the fill plug in front of the seat is the only fill plug for the trans, keep poring and the level will come up, the plug under the seat is for the steering clutches (clutches are dry but have hydrolic action for the levers) the main drive clutch is wet and the fill place is on the right side of clutch bell. good luck
