The flywheel clutch plate contact surface is badly grooved as is the preasure plate surface.
Is this normal?, Or do they need resurfacing.

the clutch plates, there is two, have ridges on both sides, I asume this is normal, But the intermediate plate wich goes between the two clutch plates is smooth on both sides.
What is the score here??.
The cat was bought recently, there is no repair history on this beast. I am rebuilding the engine and figured I may as well look at the clutch too now the motor is out anyway. The clutch was working fine.

Thanks in advance

All surfaces that contact the clutch should be flat. There shouldn't be any ridges or grooves on any of the parts, if there are then they need to be resurfaced if possible, or if not then replaced. Running them without being flat will cut into the the friction material on the clutch disc and severely shorten it's life. It's probably not gonna be cheap if you have to replace any of the parts but it's gonna be a dang site cheaper when everything's already apart then if you have to go back into it again in the not to distant future. Good luck.
