I am looking for final drive bearings for a MF 400 dozer, I am having no luck. I have the mf part #'s but can't find where to go to get them. I am also in need of some gaskets and seals. Let me know if you can help.

Clint,

As far as bearings and seals go, you may want to try your local industrial power transmission dealer. Here in Dayton, Ohio we have Motion Industries, Ohio Transmission, and others.

The bearings and the seals should be stamped with a part number. If you take them to the industrial dealer they will cross reference them. Very rarely do the tractors use a proprietary bearing or seal.

I had to get some bearings and seals for my MF industrial 50 tractor final drive and axle housing. The MF dealer was so expensive that I would have to hock the farm to buy the parts. Motion industries measured the seals and determined a substitute for each one at a cost of 1/4 - 1/2 of the MF dealer.

Thanks for your Ideas. One big problem that I have is that the seals were so far gone that there is no way we can get a number off of it. I have the MF part numbers for the part but I don't have the size or dimention of the the part. If you have any other Ideas please let me know.

Thanks
Clint

Clint,

If you have the physical remains of the seal (I'm assuming a lip seal in a steel ringed housing) take it along with measurements of the shaft to determine what the ID is.

The supplier has a chart supplied by National Seal or Chicago Rawhide that gives the ID/OD/thicknesss of the seals. Then they can determine a part number.
