Can anyone explain how to adjust the fuel injector rocker arm on a HD-5, I will be working on it this weekend.

Previous post below.

No, I do not have the pin to adjust the injectors, but I do have a micrometer that can be adjusted to the suggested length.

Can you explain the procedure?

My book says to adjust the rocker arms on the valves to .009 hot when they are closed. I adjusted them cold and opened them up a bit until I can start the engine and bring it up to temp., then I will readjust.

Let me know if you can explain the injector setting?

Thanks,

Walt

Turn the engine untill the exhaust valves on a given cylinder are fully open, this will put the injector lifter on the base circle of the injector cam lobe. Now tighten the injector rocker adjustment untill the injector tool reads the exact measurment from the flat area with the little hole on the injector body to the top of the injector plunger. Tighten the lock nit and recheck the adjustment. For setting valves, turn the engine untill the injector rocker is fully down, then you are in the right position to adjust the exhaust valve rockers.
The metal tag on the valve cover should have the correct adjustment spec for the injector type and cam timing used in this engine. The injector adjustment does vary with different injectors and cam timing,so hopefully the tag is still on the engine.
