I rebuilt the motor on my 1940 TD-6 dozer.After
running it I found a exhaust leak on the forward
underside of the exhaust manifold.I thought it was cracked, after removing it I found a 1/8th
hole in the casting. It blows exhaust on the forward part of the intake manifold.Does anyone
know why its there? Thanks

Bet it came from the factory with that hole there. The reason is to drain water before it rises high enough to get in the exhaust ports. Most IH tractors had the holes drilled, my Super C, SM, and SH all have the holes in factory manifolds.

Could be someone drilled it for a weephole incase of rain getting into the exhaust? Someone's cheap version of a preheater?Dunno for sure. Just guessing....
