I had new 1/8 in steering clutch shoe linings installed in my TD 340 When I set the transmission cover back on I have about 6 inches of free travel in the steering levers with the adjusting bolt removed. Should be 1 1/2" In the manual it says "the boss (bumper lugs) on the back of the brake back up she must be removed by grinding. The entire 1/16 in msut be removed to provide initial adjustment." I assumed since the machine is 40 years old this had been done. Can some one tell me where the boss is I need to grind off? Thanks

Hi, sorry you didn't get any help from the red power site. They've been real helpful to me. Here is another site, not as busy unfortunately, but specific to T-340's. Do the TD-340's use different steering clutches? Sorry, can't be more help.

Ask this over on the Red Power Magazine forum. You should be able to find someone with the answer there. I've got a T-340, but never had to deal with this problem.

He already asked it there and got no help. I think the IH 340 folks are pretty scarce all over. He"ll probably have to get a manual and figure it out for himself. I"ve heard they have planet steering and if true they don"t even have steering CLUTCHS.
