I just bought a 1947 dat d2 and everything seems to be in pretty good shape other then the steering clutches are suck. I pulled the drain plug on one side and oil did come out so I thing it will go with a bit of fooling around? I also would like know if I can use a jack to turn the sprocket and free the clutch? will this cause more damage or will it come free? On the other steering clutch I pulled the drainb plug and it was dry" I put my finger up inside and it was greasy and I could not see any rust or anything like that. I thought I might fill each clutch with diesel and let it sit for a week or two?? I would really like to hear from someone where i should start..Thanks

Does the Cat run? If it does take it out and run
it back and forth while riding the Brakes to
heat the drums. If you can run it far and fast
better yet. Get them good and hot and release the
clutches while holding the brake. Take up on the
adjustment as much as you can. You are better off
to do as much as you can to unstick them because
it is a real big job to get in to them and if they are stuck you would likely have to break the drums
to get it apart. I would not worry about a little brake wear in this case. Let us know if this works.
