Good evening people,well I finaly got the starter proublem fixed on my 1965 500G crawler, new brushes and a stater drive located in Minn.{$23.00 including shiping}for starter drive a good deal.when I turned the old girl over, the valve cover started jumping up and down threds on studs were striped,rocker arm assembly end bolts were backed out of the head, the middle bolt was tight none of the push rod"s were on rocker arm,well I strightend that problem out,tryed to start her agian this time she backed fired a little,checked timing it was right on,spark plugs are new but gap was complety closed on all four,set plug gap, checked the points, gap was set at least 500 thousants,cleaned and reset points (THIS TIME RUNS GREAT NO SMOKE,GOOD OIL PRESURE)hydrulic"s dint work added hydrulic oil machine moves forward and backward"s still bucket dosent work, turns out copuler had been welded to pump shaft and crank pulley, the weld broke so the pump dosent turn,which brings me to the point of this post does anyone have a copuler for sale or know where I can find one?goes to show we never know what were getting into when we drag an old peice of iron home no matter what we were told was wrong with it.(bad starter)now on the outher hand when that old girl fires up for the first,what a feeling{makes it all worth WHILE!!}dont you think.
