Hi, I'm still trying to straighten my bent 2" pipe axle. It is bent up, like they high centered or something. I put jacks under both sides of the axle, then I put a crosstie(2x2 square tube)on top of the axle. then I put a chain around the bottom of the axle to the top of the jack. I only had a 6 ton jack, possibly not heavy enough, because it didn't seem to move any. Would a 12 ton jack work better?
Thanks,
Jim in Oregon

Before I spent a lot of time trying to straighten it, I would take a close look at a new axle. Most axles appear to be bent up in the middle to provide camber for the wheels. I have not measured the bend but my recollection is it is about one inch of upward bend (more or less) in the middle of the axle.

Camber - The angular relationship of the wheel to
the road surface in the vertical plane. Axles are
typically built with a pre-determined bend in the
tube that compensates for the expected
deflection under load. Ideally, the tire footprint
will contact the road evenly across the width of the tread.
