Help Help!!! I am in desperate need to find a oil pump assy for my continental JD382 engine along with gasket overhaul kit . I need complete gasket kit with all gaskets to do the complete engine . I have been told by case dealers that nothing is available for repair of this engine aftermarket also tells me the same story. There has to be someone out there in internet land that can help me ? The engine manual shows a lancaster balancer on bottom of engine with oil pump attached to the back of it ...THIS is not what my engine has . My oil pump mounts on the front main brg cap. The only part casting number on the oil pump is ..J382L 30/80. ANY one with information on where I can obtain used parts or new would be a god send to me .The serial number on my crawler is#7101586...and engine only has a plate that says#JD382 ON IT ...Thank you ...Wayne

You can find the parts that you need from Montes Equipment Co., Inc.. The phone number is (312) 225-4208 or go to www.montesequipment.com. I was wondereing if you might know where any Lanchester Balancers for the JD-382 continental diesel engine might be found. If so call me at (205) 665-5517. Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

wayne here again just wanted to say thanks to two people that replyed to my message .George you were right upon closer inspection of my id tag on crawler with the help of a magnifying glass it is not a model 1000D like I first said its a Model 1000C with the jd 382 continental. So any one else out there care to help out on where I might be able to find a oil pump and gasket set to do a major on this engine? Also maybe some one could help me on a question I have . My oil pressure usually ran at 40-48# respectfully ,all brgs are in prime condition .I pulled the pan and checked them and the oil pump thinking I'd have a problem ...maybe in the regulator valve of pump but it wasn't stuck and moves freely so I changed oil and filter and restarted engine and walla it had 48 # cold ,I let it idle to warm engine and I moved it closer to shop but by then it had dropped to 10# and it didn't make a difference if at idle or a higher rpm. Are there any other type of regulators that I may have missed on this engine ? The next thing I did was to pressurize the system with a outside source of oil with the pan off to check to see where the oil was going it holds pressure at 40 # and the normal oil seapage at all brgs untill the pressure is gone from my outside source. Any ideas on the subject would be appreciated...Wayne

wayne, which fuel sys does that engine have, roosa
master or american bosch, bosch is timing gear
drive, roosa master is cam shaft drive like a
distributor? Sounds like the bushing is out of oil pump
and therefore thegears have worn the housing. If that engine has roosa master sys,it will
be set to run 2000 rpm, without balancer it can't stay together very long. there are no
counter weights on the crank, balancer is needed
to cancel the inherent out of balance condition
of all 4 cyl engines at high rpm. george

George thanks for responding my engine has the roosa master that mounts on the left side center of block. What did you mean when you said bushings ? did you mean the bushings in 2 piece housing of the fuel injector pump? or the oil pump? I know the oil pump is seen better days the gears are alittle scored and theres .o17 between the two of them and .006 between the gears and aluminumhousing of the pump. Ifound that theres some kind of pressure regulator in the oil filter housing to my system has a oil cooler all in one I will check that today. I know the oil pump even with worn gears should produce some what of a hiher reading then what I had #10at any given rpm .Hers one thought that has come to mind the guy who owned this machine before said that the injector pump had come loose and now says he ...thinks thats when the oil pressure problem started. If its my oil pump thats bad do you know of any rebuilders ?....Thanks I will be waiting to hear from you.....Wayne

wayne, first item- the serial # 7101586 is a1000C,
D tractors started with # 7103000. next item -case 1000 tractors had balancers , either the engine
or the oil pump came from a Massey Harris 55,
the engines with balancer run 2000 rpm, the ones
without run 1500 rpm.
Fel pro still has gaskets for the jd series engine # FS 7764 S-1 , it is like everything else
that fel pro sells, it is not a complete set.
Does not have rear seal,or manifold gaskets.Oil
pumps are no longer available ,if you can find a
balancer , it will most likely need the shafts
ground , and bushings made to fit. when the bushings wear in the balancer ,it causes the oil
pump to wear excesivly.the cure is to mount a chevy 6.2 pump in place of the pump ,continental
never had that much oil pressure.the catch is that it take at least a day of machine shop time.
