Hi All,
Need some advice. Last fall when this machine was parked everything worked fine. Now this spring the clutch won't release. Yes, it sat outside. Anyway the linkage seams to be all working fine but it still won't release. Do you think that the clutch is rusted to the input shaft or stuck to the flywheel face? Since the linkage seams to be working I assume the presure plate is releasing. I don't see any access holes. Are there any tricks or am I going to have to split the tractor?

Thanks for the advice guys. You have given me hope that this can be taken care of in the area where the machine is.

take the tractor to a large field, put tractor in a high gear, run tractor at 1500 rpm, press the clutch to release the pressure plate tension, press and release the brake "HARD" this will load and unload to the clutch disk this may release.
The next alternative is to remove the starter, have someone depress the clutch peddle, to release the pressure plate pressure. With an old brake band adjusting tool you can reach thru the starter mounting hole and past the flywheel, between the flywheel and the clutch pressure plate and you can pry on the clutch disk, I have had clutch stuck before and never had to split a tractor.

Yes the clutch will sometimes freeze to the flywheel after sitting for a time. If you have a safe area to do it, try to start the machine in low gear and drive it around while holding in the clutch pedal and gently tapping the brakes once in awhile to try and free it up. Jeremy
