When the clutch packs in the JD transmission finally wear out, will the machine stop moving before the discs start wearing metal-to-metal, once the frictio nmaterial is all used up?

What about the steering clutches?

Transmission an wet steering clutches usually have a sintered bronze composite bonded to the clutch plates or fiber plates .Usually what stops a transmission or steering clutch is a loss of pressure causing of a burning of plates. Wrong oil used in the system can cause premature wear from not having the correct additives for brakes and clutches..Once in a while one might think the trans or steer clutch is kaput...sometimes a simple adjustment can lengthen service of unit.
