I'm going to look at a 1010 diesel w/6 way blade, new tracks and 2 new lift cylinders tomorrow, bad reverser. 2 questions come to mind ,first, what's a high figure to rebuild a reverser,2nd,can it be replaced with pieces from a "non-reverser" model of the same make? Are there any other interchanges available? Thanks in advance! Tim

Thanks Roy, I've been into the reverser on a 350c my Dad had,for the rear shaft. That, and the accumulator valve. How different is the reverser on the 1010 from the 350?Thanks!
PS The guy wants 4k for it....

The only feasible way to convert to clutch-drive would be to strip a part's machine and buy all the parts at once. You need an entirely different housing to replace the reverser case along with engine clutch and pressure plate, clutch pedal and linkage, flywheel, etc. The reverser in the 1010 is basically the same as in a 350C - with only a few minor differences. 1010s and early 350s used different trans. pumps and covers in front, an input shaft that used a smaller diameter center-bearing, and a different style spring-loaded dampener/drive on the engine flywheel.

Thanks, jdemaris,. Will the clutch drive housing work off an early 350? Is it feasible at all? Is the 1010 all by its'self as far as other parts?Like transmission, tracks, finals, other major components? Do you know where I could get a reverser?

The clutch-housing from a 350 will not fit a 1010 - the engine-mount bolt patterns are different. The 1010 uses the older two-cylinder engine bolt pattern like a 420 or 430. 350 uses the new generation engine and bolt pattern that fits nothing before it. In regard to other parts - there are many 350 and 350B parts that fit the 1010. Transmission case, steering clutch housings, some reverser internal parts, etc. But, the final drives and steering clutches themseves are more like the older 420-430-440 crawler style. I know where there are several 1010 parts crawlers with reversers - but I know idea if they're any good. I was recently stipping an Allis HD4 over at McFaddens in Sharon Springs, NY, and there were half a dozen 1010 crawlers in the yard.

Thanks again, jdemaris. One last try before I lose hope in this project....a friend has a straight 350,diesel,non-reverser model. Bad transmission. Would the rear half of the 1010 bolt up to the front half of the 350 and the six-way hydraulic blade fit over onto the 350,replacing the six-way manual blade? Track width would be the sticking point,if there is one? Will the tracks fit the 350?The 1010 has what looks like new tracks on it,rollers, sprockets, chain, bushings, grousers. Thanks again, Tim

It's hard to say how much to rebuild the reverser..It's not that bad of a job..Just how much is junk inside..I wouldn't buy it unless you can get it for a song [ cheap ]...Shafts are usually the big bucks...next are manifold and piston parts...Then front pump parts...The output shaft is usually worn to the point of stripping splines where the coupling joins the reverser and transmission....
