Does anyone have suggestions on removing the 'nosecone' from the Ford 555 Backhoe? I have the hydraulic pump, tank and cooler off for R&R and would like to replace fanbelt and have radiator cleaned while am at it. It appears that it should lift off now with the side weights off, radiator top hold down off, hood off . Are there any other non-evident things that need to be undone? ? Planning on lifting with front loader. Open to suggestions from anyone thats been here before. oh yeah, am removing to clean due to gallons of leaked hydraulic fluid from bad hyd pump. Anything else that should be done while I am this far into it????

Man , That sounds like a lot of unnecessary work to clean up " spilt " oil..I would steam clean the dickins out of it without removing the machines " nosecone ".. I can replace a belt without removing much more than sheetmetal and loosening one end of the pump drive...Unless you're real adventureous , I wouldn't go thru that much trouble..

Appriciate the thoughts Roy, but I am practically there now. And, I don't have a steamer. Only thing I will be taking off is the heavy sheet metal cover on top of the weights. Then I can access the radiator for removal and cleaning coring, and check the water pump for wear/replacement. Don't want to get back in here for awhile. Previous owner hadn't serviced for some time and since the guages are idiot lights I need the assurance that I've done everything possible to prevent potential implosion before I work the *!!##*^^ out of it.
