I have a International 500 Dozer it runs good but in 3rd gear on a small incline it will bog down and stall or if you try to steer L or R. Even in second gear at full throtle if you try to do turn a 160 it will bog down. Can you turn up the Inj Pump to get more power or is there another way to get more power. Thanks Rosco

Pump timing is also an important parameter to get right. If it's retarded more than it should be you'll lose power and fuel efficiency.

Yep, I"ll have to second that. Check your air and fuel filters first - that machine should work fine if everything"s running as it should. Turning up the pump can, and will give more power - but if it"s too much, there"ll be overheating problems. If it"s way too much, and you"re supercharged, it"s a great way to melt pistons. Personallyl, if you"re turning it up, stick a pyro on it, they"re cheap and the only real way to monitor what"s happening.

I don't know any specifics on IH crawlers, but in any diesel, you need air flow + fuel to make power. First, I'd make sure the air filters aren't restricted. Then, if it's turboed, yes, turning up the pump will boost power. But you can overdo it too, and shorten the life of the engine. If it's natualy aspirated, turning up the pump might give you a FEW more horses, but will mostly just use more fuel and make more smoke.
