I bought a 1967 case 580 backhoe and i am not sure what motor is in it. It is a four cylinder gas.
I think it is a G-148. It blew just after I bought it. my luck ! any ideas what else used the same motor ? thanks

I'm definitely no Case expert, but I was looking into buying a Case TLB of this vintage awhile ago. First, I think the 580's weren't offered until a little later. I could be wrong about that, but it seemed like the 530's preceded the 580's which started roughly in the late 60's - early 70's. To my knowledge in '67 the 530CK (Construction King) was what was available at that time. I believe that the diesel models were 188 cu/in jobs, which was also used in the 450 crawlers and the later 580's TLBs too. Not sure about the gas versions, but maybe they made a 188 gas too? I'd go to the Case tractor section of this website, I'm sure someone will be able to help you there very quickly. See the link below, good luck.
