Have a chance to get a totally disasemabled 440 crawler loader with a diesel engine that needs rebuilt. How easy is it to get parts for this model and are they expensive? Thanks John

Depending on which loader, it will be from a little over 9,000lbs to about 10,300lbs give or take.

Parts are quite available, both new and used as far as the crawler itself. The engine is a 2-53 Detroit, so engine parts are readily available.
As to price, it depends on what you mean by expensive, but some of the larger parts can be if they are damaged. As long as you don't get to deep in to the purchase price, you have some room to work. If you don't mind the work, they are a fun machine, and will do a lot of work for their size.

Thanks Lavoy, The pins are still round, the end of the sprockets are still square, idlers are good, the guy has all the bearings and a complete trans case, the other one is cracked that's why he tore it all down, got everything it needed except for an engine kit, but has now lost interest in it and too many other projects. The asking price is $1000. What is the weight of the machine? No rippers and just a plain bucket. Thanks, John

If nothing else buy it for the undercarrige and then find a running one that needs tracks. You can't buy many used parts for $1,000

I used to have one with a gas engine. There are many times I miss it as it would lift and move very big loads for it's small size.
