Been to some crawler auctions in MN- nicest D2 went for $3000, had straight blade with manual angle adj. UC was 75%. Filter won't let me post site for specs and how to measure. Send email for that. Or try crawler(Opposite of hell)with the com ending.

The 40 is really more of an agricultural pulling crawler, the D2 weighs a LOT more and has a bunch more horses and is built much stouter. The JD is probably easier to work on, especially in a one man show. PArts for both are expensive, the Cat will probably last longer and do more and is a real crawler as opposed to the JD. I have a 40 and would like a D2 or D4 for some of my field work.

All other things being equal, the D2 is quite a bit more machine than the Deere, they really are not even comparable. They'd both work well for landscaping, so I'd look at the best condition for the price. Deere might be easier to get parts for.
