I was using my 410 tlb last weekend at the ranch and smelled hydro fluid. Upon inspection I found fluid pouring out of the connection exiting the pump. This is a compression type elbow fitting that attaches to a hard pipe on the right side of the unit. I tightened it up with a wrench thinking I fixed it and headed to the house. On the way I dumped about 3 gal of hy guard on the road. I again tightened the fitting with a crescent wrench, this time with a little tap of a hammer on the wrench. I had no leak so I tested it by digging a small hole and it seems OK. My question is do you think this was just a vibrational loosening of the connection, or is there a type of O-ring at this fitting that could have blown out. My cd manuel shows only a compression union here.
thanks rick

Hi, check the elbow closely.I had one that was pressed together from 2 seperate parts it split apart where it was pressed together. It like to have drove me nuts before I realized it was busted,I thought the seat where it seals was scratched or pitted so I cleaned the seat up with emery and retightened it a few times to no avail untill I discovered the real problem.

my 410 did the same thing on the back side of the fitting where it goes into the pump there is a o ring that had split remove air cleaner to give you more room remove fitting and replace 20 cent o ring

Thank you I see the o-ring on the diagram, between pump body and stub - it is the opposite end of that piece (stub) where the elbow cap screws onto the stub that leaked. I could turn it with my fingers about 5 degrees when it first happened. Maybe I just did not get it tight enought the first time. I have a lot of chatter in the hydraulics when operating the hoe and I plan on serviceing the filters to see if that will help. I can see where that vibration could loosen something over time.
thanks again
rick
