Hi,I have a Db2 that I'm rebuilding.Question is how does the delivery valve come out of it.I removed the hollow allen screw and the stop and spring but the valve seems to be stuck in the bore.If I cant get it to come out will it work as it is.The original problem was the pump quit pumping fuel, the plungers were also stuck in the head and I freed them up.Thanks

You can usually knock it out by rapping the rotor. There is, however, a special tool - called a "delivery valve retractor." Sensible name, I guess. It's just a little pencil-shaped tool with a tiny drill-chuck type vise at the end. You reach in, grap the nub on the end of the delivery valve, tighten the jaws, and retract. I have the tool, but have never had to use it.
I imagine you could blow it out with air also.

Hi JDemaris, that tool would have came in pretty handy.I did manage to get it loose by soaking in the lacquer and letting it vibrate.First pump I,ve done and it turned out really good, runs like a top now. Thanks

The delivery valve should just fall out. It must be stuck in place by the same gooey varnish that was sticking the plungers.

Thanks for the reply Bob.How would be the best way to get it out,is there a hole under it somewhere that air pressure could be used to force it out.Or do I just spray it down with some cleaner ,let it soak and try jaring it out.If it is stuck in the bore will that cause it to not operate corectly or is it just in there to block off a hole and wouldn"t hurt to be stuck in? Thanks again

 Update,got it fixed in reply to motorhead460, 07-12-2006 23:52:33
Hi, I tried cleaning it with the stanadyne cleaner, let it soak overnite and tapped it on a piece of wood but it still wouldn"t come out.So I put the shaft in a cup of lacquer thinner and set it on top of my running bench grinder(POOR MANS SONIC CLEANER),the grinder vibrates a little when running so I thought this might agitate the thinner and help desolve the deposits.I let it vibrate for about 1 hour, took it out and the valve fell out. This did so good a job of cleaning,I"m gonna build myself a parts washer that uses vibration to clean.
