Hi JDemaris, I have a question about a injector pump and figured you would be the logical person to ask.I"m rebuilding a jdb-3027 pump,I think I read a post of yours in the archives that said the roller to roller measurement is 1.979" factory, when I measured mine it was 1.977".I want to turn it up a little bit because when it"s in a hard pull it doesn"t show a bit of smoke and seems kind of weak. What do you think a good measurement would be? It had 2 shims under the leaf and when I remove 1 of them I get around 1.989" or if I remove both and turn the screw about 1/8th turn more in from original location I get around 1.992".I read somewhere that someone recomended 1/8th turn. I can always adjust it later but would like to get it right while on the bench. I"d like to see it blow faint smoke anyways. Oh by the way I replaced the governor ring with the db2 model, the original rubber was still on the old one but it was starting to disentegrate a little. Thanks for any advice.

I don't remember which pump you have and you left some numbers out. A JDB431MD3027 pump (Deere # AR79436) has a roller-to-roller setting of 1.971" Most rebuilders that I know throw the limiting shims in the garbage pail. In most cases, a new pump, or pump with new parts will produce the proper delivery with the specified roller settting, but a pump with some general wear will have some leak off and need an increased roller-to-roller setting. So, if someone rebuilt it and adjusted the rolllers to specs.with the shims behind the leaf spring, put it on the test stand only to find out it needed to be increased - the pump might have to be torn down again if the shims were still in there. In regard to the Clockwise - or Counter Clockwise marks - they should ALL be the same direction. Either the pump is a Clockwise pump, or it is a Counter-Clockwise pump - no inbetween or compromise. Direction is determined while looking into the drive-end of the pump. If looking in, the pump turns clockwise - then it IS clockswise and all parts, e.g. and i.e. the transfer pump liner, cam ring, end cap, etc. all go in the same (clockwise). As I recall, your pump is CC , i.e. Counter-Clockwise.

Oops another question in reply to motorhead460, 07-18-2006 20:59:13
Hi,if the advance ring is on cc rotation and the advance adjustment is on the cc rotation side does that also mean that the transfer pump ring should be set to cc rotation? When I pulled the pump apart the transfer ring was set on clockwise rotation even though everything else is cc. Seems to me that all 3 should be on the same rotation but I"m unsure. Thanks
