Why was the machine parked for 2 years?? Something wrong with the trans originally??Is the clutch releasing?? If the pedal feels stranger than usual or customary , maybe something is stuck..Maybe a broken rollpin in the clutch / fluid linkage...This runs from the adjustment nut [ under rubber plug on top of clutch housing next to clutch pedal] to the clutch valve inside the HLR control valve..You might have to remove the trans top cover to see if stuff is spinning in there, or to check for broken roll pin..

Thanks for the reply Roy.The machine was out of service for a engine problem, which luckly turned out to be only a bad head gasket.Never had any problem with the transmission.I was in the slow process at that time of putting a complete bottom on my 450c dozer and injection pump rebuild. Before changing the oil and filter, I ran the engine with clutch engaged and loosened the tranny filter slowly to check for pressure.Pressure is to the filter but as you mentioned ,I believe someting is stuck inside.Possibly the clutch valve or pilot valve. Is it possible to get to these units by pulling the top cover? I pulled, and cleaned the oil pressure regulating vave. That looks good. The main engine clutch is definetly working. This week I hope to check the tranmission oil pressure.Something tells me it will be zero.I do have some spare parts on another 450c parts machine.Age here is 61 and am a retired airline mechanic. These dozers have been a hobby for years. This machine also has the 4and 1 bucket and 9300 backhoe.I am glad you replied,I believe I have read many of your helpful suggestions that you have given to many people. Thanks Steve

with top cover off you can access most everything in the control valve. There's a shift valve there and a clutch valve..Check for broken roll pins
